• Liked Romances of 2024

These are romances I read in 2024 that I liked but did not quite make it up to the favorites. These are all solid and entertaining reads!

    1. Oronis Knights by Anna Hackett (Sci-Fi Romance)

Oronis Knights is a sci-fi / space opera romance trilogy. The heroes are dreamy, sexy and knightly, and the romances a bit corny and campy. If these romances were movies, they would be “cult classics”. The science doesn’t always make sense, but boy is it entertaining and the spicy!

    2. ACOTAR (Books 1-4) by Sarah J. Maas (Romantic Fantasy)
    3. Crescent City (Books 1-2) by Sarah J. Maas (Romantic Fantasy)
    4. Dity Blood (Books 1-3) by Penelope Barsetti (Romantic Fantasy)

The first three installments in the Dirty Blood series are dark and sexy reads. The fantasy world Barsetti has created doesn’t make much sense, but that didn’t stop me from sinking my teeth into this series and going along for the ride. The heroine is noble and strongheaded (to the point of annoyance), and the vampire “hero” is handsome, morally grey, tortured and arrogant. You’re welcome.

    5. Wraith Kings by Grace Draven (Romantic Fantasy)

Wraith Kings is a magical romance series made for readers of plot foward romantic fantasies and slow burn romances. Draven is an exceptional writer with a talent for world building and character development. She writes a solid and immersive — if not particularly pulse racing — romance.

    6. Hoarded by the Dragon by Lillian Lark (Romantic Fantasy/Monster Romance)

Hoarded by the Dragon is a super explicit paranormal romance that takes place in contemporary fantasy world and features accidental pregnancy and forced proximity tropes. It is well written, funny, and with surprising moments of depth.

Hoarded by the Dragon by Lillian Lark
    7. A Love Song for Ricki Wilde by Tia Williams (Contemporary Romance)

A Love Song for Ricki Wilde is a “magical realism” contemporary romance with exquisite and poignant writing that made me laugh out loud and cry out loud. The characters are rich, complicated and oh so funny. This is not your typical love story / romance novel. While the plot has a superb happy ending, it doesn’t hesistate to gut you with harsh historical and contemporary realities.

A Love Song for Ricki Wilde by Tia Williams
    8. Dukes Most Wanted (Books 1-4) by Scarlett Scott (Historical Romance)

HOT and short historical romance novellas. These are great reads for not only historical romance readers, but fans of the SPICY angst, enemies-to-lovers, and revenge-to-love tropes!

    9. Gothikana by RuNyx (Gothic/Paranormal Romance)

Gothikana is a gothic/paranormal romance that delivers on erotica and mystery with explicit scenes and dark ghostly plot twists. However, the dialogue often reads like fanfiction: at times immature and corny.

    Gothikana by RuNyx
    10. Galactic Kings by Anna Hackett (Sci-Fi/Alien Romance)
    11. The Brazen Bluestocking by Tracy Sumner (The Ducchess Society, 1) (Historical Romance)
The Brazen Bluestocking by Tracy Sumner
    12. The Five Packs by Cate C. Wells (Paranormal Romance)

Are you into trailer trash sexy, shifter paranormal romance, and MMCs that beg for forgiveness? Then Five Packs is for you!

Word of Warning: as much as I liked and enjoyed this series, the “hero” from His Curvy Rejected Mate (#4) can go pound sand. That’s all.
